Hooray for Hollywood!

…and Prosperity Laws

By Marilyn Jenett

Since everyone seems to be enamored with celebrities (admit it, they DO seem bigger than life, don’t they?), I thought you might like to see examples of how big name stars unwittingly used the same prosperity principles in my Feel Free to Prosper program — even when they have hit “bottom.” And let’s also see how FFTP students have used them in the same way — “wittingly,” of course!

Following are several fascinating editorial accounts about Hollywood stars followed by my own (hopefully fascinating) musings and Feel Free to Prosper “star” student comparisons…

Not So Dumb…

“One night in 1987, when the 25-year-old Jim Carrey was a struggling Canadian comic trying to make his way through the show-biz jungle of Los Angeles, he drove his old Toyota up to Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood hills. Sitting there overlooking the City of Angels and dreaming of the future, Carrey wrote himself a check for $20 million. He dated it Thanksgiving 1995 and added the notation, ‘for acting services rendered.’

“This story has become famous, of course, because Carrey’s expression of brazen optimism turned out to be conservative. By the time 1995 actually rolled around, his rambunctious goofball roles in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask and Dumb & Dumber had yielded worldwide grosses of $550 million, and the newly minted superstar’s asking price was up to $20 million per picture. But by that time, Carrey no longer had the check anyway — in July 1994, he had slipped it into his father’s pocket as Percy Carrey, who had once housed his family in a Volkswagen camper after losing his job as an accountant, lay in his coffin.”

Andrew O’Hehir, www.salon.com

“Went through depression in the 1980s while struggling to make ends meet as a comedian…First actor to reach $20 million mark salary (for The Cable Guy in 1996).”

Jim Carrey: “The power of the subconscious mind! With the power of the subconscious mind I can learn how to do anything…”

 www.imdb.com

Marilyn’s Comments:

The power of the subconscious mind indeed!

Lawrence…

A Feel Free to Prosper student heard me teach my check writing technique and talk about Jim Carrey’s experience in my Manifester’s Audio Program. Lawrence had just filed bankruptcy shortly before he started my program several years ago. While he was applying my lesson techniques, he also wrote himself a check for $1.6 million. And just one year later, he officially became a millionaire for the first time…the Universe brought him $1.7 million. Oh…did you notice that the Universe added an extra $100,000!

How He Manifested a “Super” Role in a Film…Literally

In November 2004, an entertainment news story caught my attention.

The young man in this story was a ‘natural’ — he was unknowingly using the same principles taught in Feel Free to Prosper Lesson Three, “Accept It Now.” As a result, he manifested himself a ‘super’ role in a movie. Literally. And in spite of some pretty tremendous odds.

Following is the news clip about the last Superman movie and the unknown actor chosen among thousands of international candidates to play the part. You will have the ‘inside scoop’ on how he really got the part — by utilizing, without realizing it, the mental and spiritual laws of manifestation. This is an extraordinary illustration of “playing the role” that we desire to become.

I love this account of the use of law and I am sure you will too…

“New Guy in the Cape Finds He’s a Snug Fit

Brandon Routh could not have chosen a more perfect Halloween costume last year. He showed up at a costume contest at Hollywood’s hip Lucky Strike bowling alley wearing a black suit, a tie and a pair of geeky thick-rimmed glasses. His starched white shirt was unbuttoned just so, revealing a blue undershirt emblazoned with the Superman logo. His hair was perfect, right down to the curl on his forehead. He was so convincing, he won first place.

“Flash-forward a year. That Clark Kent-Superman getup is no longer just a Halloween costume.

“The relatively unknown actor, 25, was thrust into the spotlight Oct. 21 when Warner Bros. announced that Routh would star in its long-awaited Superman movie.

“‘He’s always had a desire to play Superman,’ says his agent, Mara Santino, who notes that the Halloween costume contest occurred months before the movie role was even a possibility.

“Routh (pronounced Rowth) was chosen from thousands of candidates interviewed at casting calls in the USA, Britain, Canada and Australia.

“‘All his life people have told him he was very Clark Kent-Superman-like,’ Santino says.'”

Marilyn’s Comments:

Barbara…

Barbara was a Feel Free to Prosper student a several years ago and then returned to join my private mentoring group. In her words:

“Recently I was part of Marilyn’s weekly mentoring group. I’d been a student before but felt I needed a refresher and wanted some guidance around some issues I was having that I knew were blocking me. I thought I was putting into practice all the things I’d learned but I was missing some key components.

“Although I’ve been studying these laws on and off for several years now, there is always more to learn and I continually find new ways to improve what I’m already doing. In the mentoring group, what applied to one person, in some way, applied to all of us. I not only learned how to eliminate my blocks in a way I’d never tried, I learned a new way to visualize that brought dramatic results. Just last week, an unexpected $33,000 came into my hands. The home improvements I visualized can now become a reality and much, much sooner than I ever imagined. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to have found what I’d been missing.”

Note from Marilyn: Actually, Barbara manifested a cool unexpected $100,000 — which was NOT earned from her business — and the gift was shared with her two sisters. So in essence, she manifested for them also — and they each received $33,000. All this arrived within days of her falling asleep at night feeling the reality of her fulfilled results — the home improvements.

He Jumped Off the Cliff and Grew His Wings on the Way Down…

Sam Worthington is the hot new film star who is best known for his role as Jake Sully in the 2009 film Avatar, and the lead roles in Terminator Salvation and Clash of the Titans.

“When Worthington was around thirty years of age, he sold most of his possessions and ended up with around $2,000 to his name. He then purchased a car with the money and lived in it for a period of time. He subsequently got a place to live following his successful audition and signing to the Avatar film project.”

wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Worthington

Marilyn’s Comments:

Sam was unknowingly applying prosperity laws even in the midst of his dire circumstances. He did not let appearances deter him. He did not give up. He kept his focus on the end result. He went about his business normally and auditioned with faith and expectation and the Universe supported him.

One moment financial supply appears to be limited or even non-existent. And yet if you refuse to let outer appearances derail you but instead maintain your “center of peace,” your solutions and success will find their way to you. No matter how extreme or negative your circumstances may become, step out in faith and “assume the role” of your end result. You will receive your miracle.

Gaga Over Prosperity Laws…

“It’s sorta like a mantra. You repeat it to yourself every day. ‘Music is my life, music is my life. The fame is inside of me, I’m going to make a number one record with number one hits.’ And it’s not yet, it’s a lie. You’re saying a lie over and over and over again, and then, one day the lie is true.”

“All that ever holds somebody back, I think, is fear. For a minute I had fear.

[Then] I went into the [dressing] room and shot my fear in the face…”

“I used to walk down the street like I was a — star… I want people to walk around delusional about how great they can be — and then to fight so hard for it every day that the lie becomes the truth.”

― Lady Gaga

Marilyn’s Comments:

One of my early students was owed quite a bit of money from a former employer and they had refused to pay for over a year. Any effort she made to collect failed. She met me and began prosperity work and shortly after her second lesson, she was able to get a mediation date in court. She went to court and the insurance company for the employer adamantly refused to pay, although she carefully kept her cool and focused her attention on prosperity thoughts as the attorneys and judge interacted. The judge finally said he would take the ruling under submission until the following week, but by all appearances the employer’s representatives were not budging.

She had to wait this out until the following week and insecurities started to set it. Her core belief was that she was meant to struggle, that “winning” this would be too good to be true. She said she kept hearing the inner voice telling her this.

Although I endorse using only positive words in our study and don’t even like to use the word “lie”, I found myself spontaneously telling her that what she was hearing was that old subconscious “tape” playing over and over and that she must recognize it for what it was — IT WAS THE LIE! The truth was that she was a child of the Universe and entitled to all of the supply and abundance that she could have if she could keep her mind open to receive.

That did it for her. Whenever those thoughts would come, she would remind herself that that was the lie and she would again become centered.

In her own words…

“When negative thoughts would trickle in, I would just tell myself that they are a “lie” because they are! That was customized by Marilyn for me and was of enormous help. Several days later, I found out that everything was settled and I got a big chunk-o’money!! Now with that chapter behind me, I can clearly focus on my career goals in terms of financial success. I can’t wait for the next lessons to unfold!”

Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way…

“Make a choice of what you want, who you want to be and how you’re going to do it. The universe will get out of your way.”

“Greatness is not this wonderful, esoteric, illusive, God-like feature that only the special among us will ever taste. It’s something that truly exists in all of us. It’s very simple.”

“There’s this delusional quality that all successful people have to have. You have to believe that something different than has happened for the last 50 million years of history. You have to believe something different can happen.”

“There’s a redemptive power that making a choice has. Just decide. And from that point, the universe is gonna get out of your way.”

“If we dream something, if we picture something, that is a physical thrust in the universe.”

“Being realistic is the most common road to mediocrity.”

“It takes such a desperate, obsessive focus. You’ve really gotta focus with all of your fiber, and all of your heart and all of your creativity.”

— Will Smith

Marilyn’s Comments:  Will says it all.

Coming to ‘Terms’ with Success…

“When I was very young, I visualized myself being and having what it was that I wanted. The mind is really so incredible. Before I won my first Mr. Universe, I walked around the tournament like I owned it. The title was already mine. I had won it so many times in my mind that there was no doubt I would win it. Then, when I moved on to the movies, the same thing. I visualized myself being a successful actor and earning big money. I could feel and taste success. I just knew it would happen.”

— Arnold Schwarzenegger

Marilyn’s Comments:

On his 50th birthday, Arnold was a guest on the Tonight Show. Jay Leno asked him how it felt to turn 50. Without hesitation, Arnold replied, “Jay, I feel great. And I’m really looking forward to the second third of my life.”

Of course our former ‘Governator’ didn’t stop there…He used the same techniques to become a politician…and be elected to a second term.

Guardian Angel?

Kate Jackson’s early desire to be an actress had to be hidden; proper Southern girls did not pursue such professions. If her family had known she would end up as an “angel,” they might not have protested the choice. Since Kate was a little girl she knew she wanted to be an actress. When she was still a child she used to practice signing autographs to her friends.

“She also starred in Mark Robson’s feature film Limbo and received excellent reviews.”

www.kate-jackson.com/biography.htm

Marilyn’s Comments: A personal manifestation…

I was living in Miami in 1972 where Limbo was filmed and had a couple of brief appearances in the film. I recall watching Kate Jackson on the set — her nose was always buried in a book between “takes” — and I remember saying to others, “She’s going to be a big star.” Certainly Charlie’s Angels made her a star.

I had my own interesting manifestation related to the film…

Limbo was one of Hollywood’s first big-studio films to concentrate on how Vietnam affected the families of the combatants. The lead characters were three service wives living at a Florida Air Force Base. Their husbands were called to active duty and all were either captured or MIA. It was Kate Jackson’s first major role.

I was in my 20s when the film was shot, had moved to New York when the film was released and saw it with my boyfriend on the big screen. But I never thought about the film after that or tried to get a copy. The film, however, did qualify me to become a member of SAG (Screen Actors Guild). It’s a lifetime membership but I never had the passion to pursue an acting career.

About a year ago I decided to search for the film to view and keep as a memoir. I had never seen it aired through the decades and discovered that the film was never made available commercially. A company in Los Angeles that researches all videos and collectibles informed me that a video did not exist. There were two completely different films with the same title that were released in 1999 and 2008, but they have nothing to do with the movie I was involved in.

I even called Kate Jackson’s agent to try to find it. I thought there must be an archive somewhere. But my search brought nothing. So I gave up the search and forgot about the film again. I released it from my mind entirely.

Then in December, I was checking out the “On Demand” movies on cable TV. I was suddenly drawn to a category that I rarely paid attention to — movies that were past hits that were $1.95 or less. Hmmm, I thought…let’s see what’s over there and what you can get for less than two bucks. I scrolled down the short list and there were big hit films of the distant past — Beaches, Day of the Jackal, Earthquake, Mary Queen of Scots — wait a minute, what’s that film just before Mary Queen of Scots?

You guessed it. Limbo was listed. I figured, well, I’m sure it’s one of those more recent films that had the same title. But when I clicked to see the description, it was the 1972 movie I had been searching for! (And it was never considered a big hit but appeared in that category anyway).

Now, I have to ask myself, what are the chances that a film that has never been released to the public since 1972, never made into video or DVD — would suddenly appear in a line up with hit movies on my local cable company lineup? And a selection that was rather small? If the film was never converted to video, where did the cable company get it? From a studio archive? And why did they choose THAT particular film with the vast number of films available?

Coincidence? Interesting timing? Or was it the laws of manifestation at work and what I call synchronicity? What is most interesting here is that I teach a very important part of the manifestation process — the necessity to “release” and let go of the end result that we want to manifest. For in that process of “letting go and letting God” — powerful forces come into play that bring our requests to fruition, even against great odds. We do our part by planting the seeds of our desire, but then we must let the Universe take over and do its job.

I believe that when I released my request entirely, that is exactly what happened. The Universe made sure that my request would be fulfilled.

I find that so exciting…much more exciting than my part in the movie! It’s the process of manifestation that is so thrilling to me. A professional digital company in Los Angeles downloaded the film for me from the cable broadcast and created a DVD for me for $14. Shortly after that, the movie disappeared from the cable line up.

And to this day, that film is still not available anywhere through any service — Netflix only has the other two films with that same title. The only item available for the film is the movie poster, which is sold on a couple of movie collectibles sites.

Anyway, that’s the best personal Hollywood tale I can offer at this time but I still think it’s a great lesson in manifesting.

Comic…and Cosmic…Relief…

The very talented Dianne Reum, my former student who became the Feel Free to Prosper “resident” cartoonist (www.feelfreetoprosper.com/humor.htm) — sent me the following message some time ago. She felt it was especially significant because in my Feel Free to Prosper lessons I teach my students to handwrite their affirmations…

“In the late nineties, in a book pointing cartoonists to markets for their creations, I recall reading an article written by Scott Adams, of “Dilbert” fame. In this marketing book, Scott Adams said that before he got syndicated, he used to write 50 times a day he was going to become a syndicated cartoonist! In retrospect, I realize Scott Adams understood the power of channeling his thoughts to what he’d wanted!”   ― Dianne

I wonder if Adams was quoted accurately when he stated he “was going to become a syndicated cartoonist” or if he stated “I am a syndicated cartoonist”. Either way, he was certainly tuned into the laws of mind and set the stage for his career.

Marilyn’s Comments:

Sanjay…

Sansay, an early Feel Free to Prosper student in Indonesia, quickly learned the power of applying the right affirmation. Shortly after he began the program, he wrote…

“…Unexpected income: US $4,300 + $169 within two weeks of practice with only the first lesson and the follow-up lesson. The follow-up affirmation works miraculously for me.

“…I can say now that — I cannot avoid wealth anymore, Isn’t that great? Your lesson is too powerful, Marilyn, thank you for your wonderful lessons on the laws of the universe.”

Then a few months later he sent this message:

“I don’t know how I turned out to do so well in real estate/property business as I never thought of doing this line of business or even showed interest in it before. This is my biggest unexpected result from your Lesson One. I’ve made US $391,000 from only US $450 dollars when I started your Lesson One and with debts of US $3,500. It’s only three and half months for me to get this wonderful amount from the day I started with your lesson.

“Three months time and I have multiple streams of income, which are 90% unexpected.”

(You can find his complete results in the “Testimonials” section of the Feel Free to Prosper website)

Think Again…

So…do you think that celebrities always have an easy journey to the top and don’t have to strive against tremendous odds? What is it that drives those relatively few to such great success?

My opinion? I think a very large part of it is this: No matter what they are faced with, no matter how great the odds are against them, no matter what barriers are presented — they consciously or unconsciously use the prosperity laws to…

Keep their eye on the donut and not on the hole!
